QRBRS is my new electronic music project. Originally from small Russian town on the middle Volga river, I moved to Cyprus 5 years ago, at the middle of Covid time. Before creating a solo project, I was playing bass in 2 rock bands in my hometown and here, in Cyprus, in Human Days on bass and synths. On top of that, I always loved to DJ at home parties or even organize a small cozy party with friends and other DJs.
So more or less, music was always in my life during last 10 years, but after my immigration I fell into the new passion: synthesizers, especially analog ones. I like to find the sound by doing — touch its surface, ask what it wants to be: a bass, a lead, a pad? What vibe, what phrase? I build a loop, repeat it, stretch it. Then bring in another synth — let it reply. Another loop. And so on.
No plans, no storyboards — I just followed the texture and mood of the sound and let the synths tell their tales.
The loop is the backbone — steady in rhythm, changing with every cycle. The loop as the brick and the blueprint which defines the final form.
This idea brings me to the point there I created QRBRS project.
